A nonsmooth principle of symmetric criticality and variational – hemivariational inequalities ✩
In this paper we prove the principle of symmetric criticality for Motreanu–Panagiotopoulos type functionals, i.e., for convex, proper, lower semicontinuous functionals which are perturbed by a locally Lipschitz function. By means of this principle a variational–hemivariational inequality is studied on certain type of unbounded strips. © 2006 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

We consider a prototype of quasilinear elliptic variational-hemivariational inequalities involving the indicator function of some closed convex set and a locally Lipschitz functional. We provide a generalization of the fundamental notion of suband supersolutions on the basis of which we then develop the sub-supersolution method for variationalhemivariational inequalities. Furthermore, we give a...

We consider a nonlinear Dirichlet parametric problem with discontinuous right hand side in which we have a competing effect of sub and superlinear nonlinearities. A bifurcation type result is studied when the parameter tends to zero.

Throughout the paper we use standard notations except special symbols introduced when they are defined. All spaces considered are Banach spaces whose norms are always denoted by ‖ · ‖. For any space V we consider its dual space V ? equipped with the strong topology. We denote by 〈·, ·〉 the duality pairing between V and V . Let f : V → R ∪ {∞} be an extended-real-valued function. Identifying ext...
